When I initially read this book forty some years ago as a chick still in high school I was naievly dazzled. If you can stomach it, I recommend it because it was well-written, vivid, and, seemingly, iec accurate depiction of Black male thou I’m not going to rate this book because I did not finish it, technically. An ideology which had flourished in the Black community throughout the Harlem Renaissance only to be subverted by the Great Depression, Red Scare nativism and individual economic gain.
